Every mark has a reason. The REPIOR interlocking RR did not arrive from a branding exercise or a design agency. It came from the same place every REPIOR piece comes from — from the specific logic of wire, form, and what happens when two identical shapes meet each other and lock.
Where it begins
REPIOR was founded in 2012 by Pilar, a designer and maker working in the United Kingdom. From the beginning, the work was intimate — jewellery designed to be worn against the body’s most private architecture, held in place not by clasps or adhesives but by the precision of wire geometry and tension.
The name REPIOR itself is not a common word. It does not translate directly into any language. It was chosen because it sounds like something precise — a term from engineering or anatomy, the kind of word that belongs in a technical document or a design specification. This was deliberate. Pilar wanted a name that signalled seriousness about the body, not decoration for its own sake.
The letter R and what it carries
The R appears twice in REPIOR — once at the beginning, once at the end, reversed. When the brand mark was being developed, this structural fact of the name became the signature: two Rs, mirrored, interlocked. One facing forward. One facing back. Together forming something that neither could form alone.
This is not a coincidence of typography. It is a description of how REPIOR pieces work. Every piece in the collection is designed around the relationship between two elements — the body and the jewellery — neither of which is complete without the other. The interlocking RR is a diagram of this relationship rendered as a mark.
The structural logic of the mark
Look at the interlocking RR closely. The two letters share a spine — the central vertical stroke belongs to both simultaneously. This is not two separate letters placed side by side. It is one form that reads as two, depending on where you begin looking.
This is the same logic that governs the tension system in every REPIOR piece. The wire does not grip the body — it resolves into a form that the body and the jewellery share. The piece holds not because it is clamped but because it is calibrated. The mark and the method come from the same idea.
Reversed, not mirrored
The second R in the mark is reversed — it faces the opposite direction to the first. This is a specific choice. A mirrored R would be its exact reflection. A reversed R is the same letter seen from the other side.
At REPIOR, every piece is made from the perspective of the body wearing it — not from the perspective of an observer. The design begins from the inside, from the anatomical reality of the person, not from how the piece appears from outside. The reversed R is a reminder of this orientation: there is a perspective from here, and a perspective from there, and both are present in every piece we make.
What the mark has come to mean
Over 14 years, the interlocking RR has appeared on every piece Pilar has made — embossed on the certificate of authenticity, stamped on packaging, present in every communication from the studio. It has become shorthand for a particular set of commitments: that the piece is handmade, that the body was considered first, that the materials are what they are stated to be, that the maker stands behind the work.
Customers who have ordered from REPIOR more than once recognise the mark immediately. It is not decorative. It is a signal — the same signal every time — that what follows meets a specific standard.
A mark made from the work itself
The best brand marks are not designed. They are discovered — extracted from the logic of the work they represent. The REPIOR interlocking RR was not imposed on the brand from outside. It emerged from the same thinking that produces the jewellery: what is the essential structure here, and how do you make it visible?
Two elements. One shared form. The relationship is the thing.
This is what REPIOR makes — in wire, in metal, and in the mark that signs every piece that leaves the studio.
