Non-piercing nipple jewellery works for the majority of people. But there are specific anatomical situations where it does not work well — and being honest about this is more important than making a sale.
This guide covers the main cases where non-piercing jewellery may not be suitable, so you can make an informed decision before ordering.
Inverted nipples
Non-piercing nipple rings work by applying gentle tension around the base of the nipple. If your nipples are fully inverted — meaning they retract inward rather than projecting outward — there is no surface for the ring to grip. In this case, standard non-piercing rings will not hold in place.
Partially inverted nipples may work, depending on the degree of inversion. If you are unsure, write to us before ordering and describe your anatomy. We will tell you honestly whether our pieces are likely to work for you.
Very flat or minimal nipple projection
Some people have nipples that project very little even when stimulated. Non-piercing rings require enough projection to sit securely at the base. If the projection is minimal, the ring may slip or feel insecure during movement.
In these cases, our adjustable rings — which can be sized down significantly — sometimes work better than made-to-measure options. Contact us to discuss your specific situation before purchasing.
Cone-shaped nipples
Nipples that taper to a point rather than having a defined base can be difficult to fit with tension-based rings. The ring needs a clear anatomical boundary to sit against. A gradual taper can make it difficult to find a stable position.
This is not an absolute — some cone-shaped nipples work well with our pieces, depending on the degree of taper. Again, we recommend writing to us before ordering.
Skin sensitivities to metal
REPIOR uses copper, stainless steel and aluminium — all hypoallergenic and free from coatings and nickel. However, some people have sensitivities even to these materials, particularly copper.
If you have experienced reactions to copper or uncoated metals in the past, choose stainless steel or aluminium. If you are unsure, start with a small piece in the material you are least likely to react to, and monitor for any response during the first few hours of wear.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding
We do not recommend wearing non-piercing nipple jewellery during breastfeeding. Any pressure or tension around the nipple during this period can cause discomfort and may interfere with feeding. We recommend waiting until breastfeeding has completely stopped before returning to wearing intimate jewellery.
During pregnancy, nipple sensitivity increases significantly. Some customers continue to wear very loose pieces comfortably; others prefer to pause. Listen to your body.
After surgery or treatment
If you have had breast surgery, radiation treatment, or any procedure affecting the nipple or areola, consult your doctor before wearing any form of nipple jewellery — piercing or non-piercing. Healing tissue and altered anatomy may make jewellery inadvisable or require specific adaptations.
Not sure if it will work for you?
Write to us at info@repior.com before ordering. Describe your anatomy and we will give you an honest answer. We would rather lose a sale than have you receive something that does not work for your body.
This is not a standard practice in the jewellery industry. At REPIOR it is the only way we know how to work.
