Non-piercing nipple jewellery is exactly what it sounds like: jewellery designed to adorn the nipple without needles, permanent holes, or healing time.
It sits on or around the nipple using adjustable tension, wire clips, or wrap-around mechanisms — and it can be put on and taken off freely, whenever you choose.
If you have been curious about nipple jewellery but felt uncertain about commitment, pain, or permanence — this guide is for you.
How Does Non-Piercing Nipple Jewellery Work?
Traditional pierced nipple jewellery passes through a hole in the nipple tissue. Non-piercing jewellery takes a completely different approach: it uses the body’s own natural geometry to stay in place.
The three main mechanisms are:
1. Adjustable tension rings
The most common type. An open ring — often hand-formed from wire — is tightened gently around the base of the nipple until it holds with comfortable pressure. At REPIOR, most of our nipple rings use this mechanism. They are adjustable by design, so you can find the exact tension that works for your body.
2. Clip-style designs
A hinged or spring-loaded clip that sits across the nipple. These are quick to put on and remove, and can work well for people who want ease of use over maximum adjustability.
3. Wrap-around and orbital designs
More architectural pieces that wrap around the nipple structure rather than gripping it at a single point. These tend to be more sculptural and are usually made to order for the specific anatomy of the wearer.
Who Is Non-Piercing Nipple Jewellery For?
Non-piercing nipple jewellery works for almost anyone. It is particularly well-suited for people who:
— Are curious about nipple jewellery but are not ready for a permanent piercing — Have sensitive skin or a history of allergic reactions to metal piercings — Work in environments where body piercings are not permitted — Want to explore intimate adornment reversibly and without commitment — Have healed piercings they no longer use, but still want to wear jewellery — Are buying as a gift for a partner and want something wearable immediately
At REPIOR, we have made over 35,000 pieces for clients in 43 countries. Our customers range from people wearing intimate jewellery for the first time to experienced body adornment collectors who come to us specifically for the precision of our made-to-order pieces.
What Materials Are Used in Non-Piercing Nipple Jewellery?
Material choice affects both the feel and the longevity of a piece. At REPIOR, we work with three:
Copper
Warm, organic, and rich in colour. Copper develops a natural patina over time — a subtle deepening of tone that makes each piece uniquely yours. It is our most popular material for nipple jewellery and body chains. Hypoallergenic when untreated. Easy to clean and restore.
Stainless Steel
Cool to the touch, with a clean, modern finish. Extremely durable and hypoallergenic. Ideal if you have sensitive skin or prefer a more minimal aesthetic. Steel pieces tend to have more visual weight and a sharper, more architectural quality.
Aluminium
Remarkably lightweight — the choice for all-day wear. Aluminium pieces are so light that many of our customers forget they are wearing them. If you want to wear your nipple jewellery through a full day at work, aluminium is the answer.
All three materials are body-safe, free from harmful coatings, and tested for skin contact. None of our pieces uses plating that can flake or cause reactions.
How to Measure for Non-Piercing Nipple Jewellery
Fit is everything. A piece that does not fit your nipple properly will either fall off or feel uncomfortable — neither is acceptable.
Here is how to measure:
1. Wait until your nipple is erect — this gives the most accurate measurement 2. Wrap a thin thread or strip of paper around the base of the nipple 3. Mark where the thread meets itself and measure that length in millimetres 4. Divide by 3.14 — this gives you your nipple diameter
Our standard size is 10mm in diameter. If you do not send a measurement when ordering a made-to-order piece, this is what we make. Most people fall between 8mm and 14mm — but we have made pieces for every size, and we will always make whatever yours is.

How to Put On Non-Piercing Nipple Jewellery
For adjustable tension rings (the most common type):
1. Ensure your nipple is erect for the most secure fit 2. Open the ring slightly and position it centrally over the nipple 3. If adjustable, tighten gradually using the tension screw or by gently closing the opening 4. The ring should hold with light, comfortable pressure — not grip or pinch 5. Move gently for the first few minutes to check comfort 6. Remove immediately if you feel numbness, tingling, or restricted circulation
Start with short wear periods — 30 to 60 minutes — and build up gradually as you become familiar with the sensation.
How to Care for Non-Piercing Nipple Jewellery
— Clean with a soft cloth after each use — Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight — For copper: a little lemon juice on a cloth will restore shine if the patina becomes too dark — For steel and aluminium: a dry polish is all you need — Store pieces individually to avoid scratching
